About the piece:

La Force is both a protective talisman and a form of ancestral reclamation. Hybridized phallic imagery combined with our* interpretation of the Gorgon evoke ancient and antiquated symbols used as protective charms for millennia. La Force calls upon The Great Mother and Mistress of Animals, who fiercely masters lions and snakes into submission. The Gorgon here is intersex, reclaiming the status of power that mythological intersex beings had in the Mediterranean prior to the ancient classical era. The phallic lion, tamed beneath her feet, traverses the heavens with glorious virility. In harnessing pain and pleasure she is the master of the phallus; balancing the feminine and masculine principles of the universe with strength and grace.
